Jack McWhorter is currently Associate Professor of Painting at Kent State University at Stark, where he has taught since 1994. He attended the Kent/Blossom Studio Art Program studying with Lynda Benglis, Elmer Bischoff, Adja Yunkers, Janet Fish, Larry Zox and Alex Katz. He received his MFA from Kent State University in 1983 and has been an artist in residence at the Walworth Barbour American International School in Tel Aviv and through Ohio Arts Council.
Jack’s recent shows include The Painting Center, NYC, Museum of Hebei Normal University, Shijiazhuang, China, Sint Lucas School of Art & Architecture and de Bosuil Gallery in Brussels, Gallery 121 in Ohio, Arterie Fine Arts, Chicago, WAH Center in Brooklyn, Jeffrey Leader Gallery, New York City, Sylvia White Gallery, in California, Sienna Art Institute, Italy, Johnson Center for the Arts, Malone University, and site specific painting commission; Water Webs & Human Networks funded by Arts In Stark, in collaboration with the Hoover Foundation for Environmental Media. He has been a recipient of multiple grants from the Ohio Arts Council, Hoover Foundation, Deuble, Timken and Stark County Foundations and University Research Council.
