Statement

Paintings & Drawings that derive from a system of [metaphors, allusions, parables, abstractions & structures] drawn from physical science.

For me, one of the most intriguing aspects of the studio is the quest for making paintings that have an equivalence in two or more directions. My tendency is to work laterally across a group of things in order to allow for things to happen that are not originally planned. To keep the process as open as possible and allow the paintings to be a record of their own making. The search is for the conceptual tool that makes the cut so that it reveals new things that spread in many directions.

In diagrammatic form my paintings employ the language of electrodynamics. Signaling an interest in painting as a physical activity and material process rather than as a language that conveys illustrative meaning.
